The ECOOP 2026 Student Volunteer Program provides an excellent opportunity to engage with researchers, academics, and practitioners from around the world, as well as connect with fellow students. Volunteers play an essential role in the organization and operation of the conference.

You are expected to help ensure the conference runs smoothly by assisting with various tasks such as managing sessions, workshops, and tutorials, staffing the information desk, monitoring badge access, facilitating traffic flow, and providing general support as required.

The Student Volunteer Program also offers possibilities for financial support to those student that need it. We therefore encourage everyone to apply.

Eligibility

You are expected to be available for at least four days between 29 june - 3 july 2026 (inclusive), and be fluent in English. If you are presenting at the conference or co-located events, or joining the ECOOP Academy, you will be able to help with tasks that do not conflict with these events.

A Student Volunteer should be:

  • an undergraduate, Master’s, or Ph.D. full- or part-time students, of computer science or related fields
  • available for at least 4 full days between 29 june - 3 july 2026 (inclusive)
  • enthusiastic and highly motivated, with strong interpersonal skills
  • fluent in English, which is the language of the conference
  • reliable, punctual, and organized

About Volunteering

The skills, talents, and dedication of the student volunteers contribute to the overall quality of the conference. The Student Volunteer role involves a range of duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Providing assistance to the conference management and secretariat staff.
  • Helping and directing other conference participants.
  • Contributing to the overall smooth running of the conference functions and social events. This includes assisting during presentations and poster sessions as well as operating the information and registration desks.

Compensation/Travel assistance

All student volunteers will receive a complimentary conference registration, offering access to all open sessions (i.e., parallel paper presentations, demonstrations, and workshops) and conference proceedings.

As a general rule, student volunteers are responsible for their own travel arrangements and accommodation in Brussel. A limited number of travel grants is available (subject to the availability of funds). All students may apply for travel assistance (volunteer and no-volunteer). Travel grants are awarded independent of the volunteer program.

The early application deadline is April 22, 2026 (AoE), and selected students will be notified on April 25. Priority will be given to applications submitted by the deadline. A limited number of applications received after the deadline may be considered depending on need.
