Type Safe Smart Contracts in TinySol

In this talk, I’ll introduce two security properties in the setting of the smart-contract language TinySol, a distilled version of Solidity: non-interference and call-integrity. Even if they look similar, I’ll show that the two properties are unrelated. However, they can be captured by using some type systems for information-flow control. I’ll focus on two of them: the first is a traditional Volpano-Smith-Irvine-like syntactic type system that can handle most of the features of TinySol; the second one is a semantic type system that is also able to handle the fallback function, a particularly powerful kind of method invocation that is at the core of severe security attacks, like the Parity Multisig Wallet.
